The Challenge
GMACK were approached to provide budget costings and buildability advice on a proposal to replace “Ma Bells” Public Bar in the basement of the hotel with two high quality bedroom suites.
If viable, the programme allowed only six months from conception to completion including all detailed design, procurement and construction to ensure that the suites were available for the lucrative summer period with the hotel operating at 100% occupancy.

The Solution
GMACK worked closely with Ethos Design and Architecture to investigate the existing construction and services installations, allowing viability of the project to be established. Hotel du Vin tendered the works and after a full tender review the project was awarded to GMACK. Upon award of the project the Design Team submitted the Statutory Applications whilst strip out works and 1st Fix installations were being progressed on site.
Working closely with the GMACK supply chain, concurrent with the ongoing design, orders were placed for various bespoke elements of FF&E, manufactured joinery, upholstery and quality sanitaryware, all to ensure that the programme was not compromised.

The Result
Completion was achieved within an extremely tight timescale of only 10 weeks which incorporated upgrading works to the external terrace, added only two weeks prior to completion. The rooms were in occupation on the evening of handover.
Works were completed to the entire satisfaction of the Client who subsequently instructed GMACK to progress further upgrading works to the public corridor and stairwell within the hotel.
