The Challenge
Currie & Brown, one of the UK’s largest multi-disciplinary construction consultancy practices required the fit-out of an 800m², 4th floor office in Glasgow city centre. The works comprised the uplift and replacement of floor coverings throughout, full power and IT installations including formation of the comms room, meeting rooms, new boardroom, reception, staff kitchen complete with breakout area, mechanical and AC installations, glazed and folding partitions and full decoration. Design was ongoing throughout the project. As a result of Landlord restrictions, Currie & Brown were afforded only 4½ weeks for full construction, commissioning and furniture installation to allow staff to be relocated from existing offices prior to their lease expiry. All other floors within the building were fully occupied working environments raising the usual challenges in terms of interface and noise.

The Solution
GMACK carefully planned the works and progressed in a sequential manner to ensure earliest access for the Client’s office furniture installation and IT commissioning works. All had to be completed in advance of the relocation and carried out in tandem with ongoing finishes being completed to remaining spaces. To comply with landlord restrictions, materials and debris had to be delivered / removed early mornings and late evenings to prevent disruption to other tenants with weekend working necessary to achieve earliest possible completion.

The Result
Successfully handing over the project on time (4½ weeks as stated above) with C&B staff relocated from both Glasgow and Eurocentral offices within the pre-agreed timescale. The Client was delighted with the transition and placed a further order with GMACK to carry out the dilapidation works within their vacated 400m²office during the subsequent 10 days.
